We see legislation as one of the tools necessary in the fight to end spam. Technology, industry self-regulation and consumer education all play an important role in helping curb this growing problem.
MetaRegister allows companies to capture and process customer product-registration information, and, where applicable, permission-based information voluntarily provided by consumers including email addresses. We strongly advocate the Direct Marketing Association's (www.the-dma.org) four pillars of responsible email marketing:
- Honest subject lines
- Accurate header information that has not been forged
- A physical street address for consumer redress
- An opt-out mechanism that truly works and is honored
